With the temperature of the oceans gradually rising, there might be woeful impacts of climate change on the blue economy, according to the research commissioned by the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy published on December 9, 2019. The study entitled “The Expected Impacts of Climate Change on the Ocean Economy” explains how coral reef tourism, wild capture fisheries, and marine aquaculture are the main ocean-based industries in need of climate change adaptation. The good news here is there is still time to act. The research shows that swift climate adaptive measures will ensure that these industries will not only survive but also thrive.
